Choose Your People: Embrace the Balcony and Leave the Crabs Behind

In the tapestry of our lives, we hope to be surrounded by individuals who genuinely care and love us. They are significant in our journey, providing support, understanding, and commitment. However, it's essential to recognize that not everyone is equipped with the best intentions or motives. Even those closest to us can unintentionally bring negativity or damage into our lives.

It's time to uncover the truth about the people we invite into our inner circle. There are only two types of individuals in this world: the Balcony People and the Crab People. The choice is yours to decide which type you want to welcome into your life and which ones you may need to keep at arm's length.

Let's begin by examining the Crab People.

Crab People are those who possess a scarcity mindset. They are driven by envy, insecurity, and self-interest. Rather than uplifting and supporting you, they pull you down, hinder your growth, and impede your progress. Their actions may be subtle or overt, but they consistently undermine your aspirations and well-being. In a romantic relationship, they are selfish and have the "I will do what I want when I want" without regard to how it will impact the relationship. They do not care for your feelings or how they affect you. They are typically flawed people with addiction issues or people who will cheat on their spouse. They are the "if it feels good, do it, or it's what I want" kind of people.

These individuals may be friends, family members, or even romantic partners. If you are in a relationship where you constantly feel diminished, disrespected, or held back, it's time for a reevaluation. Your significant other may require personal growth or a change in mindset to align with your vision and values.

On the other hand, there are the Balcony People.

Balcony People are the ones who cheer you on, celebrate your victories, and provide unwavering support. They genuinely care about your well-being and are committed to your success. These individuals uplift you, acknowledge your worth, and inspire you to reach new heights.

Balcony People are the ones who stand by your side during both triumphs and challenges. They offer a listening ear, kind words, and constructive advice. They bring positive energy into your life and help you become the best version of yourself.

As a spouse, they put the relationship or family first and are committed to it. But any relationship is hard, and it must always be nurtured. It must be treated like a garden of flowers. You must water it, till the soil, feed it, protect it. Sometimes, one may need to put one's needs on the back burner for a bit for the good of the relationship.

Now, it's time to reflect on the people surrounding you. Crab People who are holding you back from your potential or that you are in a relationship with? Are there more Crab people in your life than what you want? Are there Balcony People who empower and uplift you? Do you have enough or need more Balcony people? Assessing the dynamics of your relationships is crucial for personal growth and well-being and it’s hard to accept at times.

Now here is the part that’s simple but hard at the same time. You get to choose to surround yourself with those who genuinely support and inspire you. You also get to choose to limit your time with the Crab People, or keep them at arm's length if necessary. Your journey towards personal growth and happiness begins with the conscious decision to embrace the Balcony People and leave the Crabs behind. But in the end, they will always scuttle off like crabs do and complain or blame as they do.

I hope you enjoyed this and maybe even helped a little.
